In Western Australia the health care industry continues to experience a skill shortage.

Aged care skills requirement
In March 2010, The Sydney Morning Herald reported, that the last quarterly breakdown figures for 2009 showed , in the past year, Health and Social Service to be Australia’s biggest-employing industry (employing 1.2m), aged care the fastest growing sector now employing a record 205,000 Australians and finally that the entire sector will one day account for one in every two workers’.
The health care industry consensus is that as demand continues to exceed supply the challenges facing employers will become even more difficult and the skill shortage critical.
Across the sector many organisations are now also voicing their concerns. More and more they are revealing they are experiencing difficulties in attracting and retaining a qualified workforce.
